Re-Downloading Records (Accessing Previously Purchased Records)

Your Genealogy purchase is available to download for 30 days from the date of purchase. In order to re-download your records again follow the steps below:

  • Login to Your Account (If you have forgotten your password, please click here for password help.)
  • Once logged in, click on the "My Account" link in the upper right-hand corner of the screen on the main navigation bar.
  • On the bottom of the "My Account" screen is the "Order Information". All previously purchased orders within the 30 day period from the date of purchase will display on this screen. Please note, orders after the 30 day period will not display and will not be available for downloading. In order to view the records again, you will need to open your already saved files on your computer or re-purchase the records.
  • If your order is still available to re-download, click on the DOWNLOAD link of the order you wish to download. It will take a few minutes for you to receive the file, depending upon how many records are in your order and the speed of your Internet connection.

Your browser may present the option of choosing where to save the file on your computer. Please note this file location for ease in finding it later. For more information about downloading click here.

Software Requirements and Downloading Help

Our Web site supports Internet Explorer 6.0 +, Firefox 3.0 + and Safari 3.0 +.

Depending on your web browser, the steps necessary to successfully download your genealogy records may differ. To successfully download your records, please determine which web browser and version your are using and follow the steps for your web browser below. The web browser and version may be determined by the help option located on your web browser tool bar. Only web browsers listed below are supported.

For Internet Explorer 6.0 +

  • Click on the "Download Your Records" button from the "Confirmation" screen or "Download" link from the "My Account" screen. (It may take a few minutes for you to receive the file, depending upon how many records are in your order and the speed of your Internet connection.)
  • A File Download window will appear on your screen. Click the "Save" button.
  • A Save As window will appear allowing you to browse for the location in which you want to save your records. The files will be saved as "genealogyRecords.zip" by default. Click the "Save" button once you have determined your file location.
  • If you want to view the records immediately after saving, click the "Open" button on the Save As window. Otherwise using your computer file browser, browse to location in which you saved the files and double click on the "genealogyRecords.zip" file.
  • That's it! You have successfully saved your records to your computer.

For Firefox 3.0 +

  • Click on the "Download Your Records" button from the "Confirmation" screen or "Download" link from the "My Account" screen. (It may take a few minutes for you to receive the file, depending upon how many records are in your order and the speed of your Internet connection.)
  • A Opening genealogyRecords.zip window will appear on your screen. Ensure the "Save File" option is selected and click the "OK" button.
  • A Downloads window will appear with the "genealogyRecords.zip" file located in the list option. Double click on the "genealogyRecords.zip" file.
  • A zip file will open with your records displayed. In order to save the records to your computer, click the "Extract all files" option on the right-hand side of the screen.
  • A Extraction Wizard window will display, click the "Next" button.
  • Choose a location on your computer where you want to save the files. Remember this location to view the records again in the future. Click the "Next" button.
  • Click the "Finish" button to view your records immediately.
  • That's it! You have successfully saved your records to your computer.

For Safari 3.0 +

  • Click on the "Download Your Records" button from the "Confirmation" screen or "Download" link from the "My Account" screen. (It may take a few minutes for you to receive the file, depending upon how many records are in your order and the speed of your Internet connection.)
  • A File Download window will appear on your screen. Click the "Save" button.
  • A Save As window will appear allowing you to browse for the location in which you want to save your records. The files will be saved as "genealogyRecords.zip" by default. Click the "Save" button once you have determined your file location.
  • Using your computer file browser, browse to location in which you saved the files and double click on the "genealogyRecords.zip" file.
  • That's it! You have successfully saved your records to your computer.

Opening Your Records (Zipped Files)

Your record(s) will be downloaded within a zip file. A zip file is a compressed data format used for storing single files or groups of related files in a space-saving way. Most operating systems support zip files. If your browser does not open the zip file automatically, you will need to install a special application to open zip files. Free trial versions are available online from various software companies.

To extract the your records from the zip file, please follow the steps below:

For Windows OS

  • Locate the zip file on your operating system.
  • Double-click the zipped file.
  • In the window that opens, click the Extract all Files.
  • An extraction wizard will open. Click the Next button.
  • In the Selection a Destination panel, select the location where you want the folder to be placed. For example, the Desktop. Click Next
  • In the Extraction complete panel, select Show extracted files. Check Finish. The unzipped files appear in a new window.

For Mac OS

  • Mac OSX 10.3 or later have a built in utility that opens zip files.
  • Open "Finder" and navigate to the Genealogy zip file you wish to unzip.
  • Double-click the zip file
  • The records contained within the zip file will be automatically unzipped into the same folder as the original zip file.

Once you've downloaded your records and unzipped the file on your computer, you can view them and print them, using your own software and printer.
